Vision, Wisdom

It occurs to me though I
can't see
the tongues of
fire on the
sun
The other side of
moon, cloud or
fog,
Eyesight isn't everything...
vision
is.
Joyce A. Chandler

When I was a child we used to go for rides in the Texas hill-country. My dad was the one who could always spot the deer. I'd look out the windows and see nothing but a blur of trees and fenceposts and telephone poles, while he seemed to be calling out, ``There's one!'' ``There's one-12 pointer!'' or ``Doe and twin fawns!'' every minute or so. I finally figured out-about two years ago-why he could spot the deer and I couldn't. I was looking out the window and trying to focus on the trees as they whipped past. He was looking in the spaces between the trees.
