Science
It is all too evident that science is not self-sufficient, cannot
be an end in itself. Science is made by man for man; it must
therefore come out of the sphere of its research and reflect on
man and through man on human society and universal history. The
faithful scientist cannot, confronted with the consequences of
his discovery, ignore the complex being that it is, in the last
analysis, the human person.
Pope Paul VI
Never a dogmatist, Einstein never belittled the power of
religion. A philosopher as well as a physicist, he believed that
the mystic transcended the materialist, and that it was
impossible to draw the line between the physical and the
metaphysical. ``The most beautiful thing we can experience is the
mysterious,'' he declared. ``It is the source of all true art and
science. He to whom this emotion is a stranger, who can no longer
pause to wonder and stand rapt in awe, is as good as dead; his
mind and eyes are closed.''
Louis Untermeyer; Makers of the Modern World
I don't think there is any conflict at all between science and
the Scriptures. I think we have misinterpreted the Scriptures
many times, and we have tried to make the Scriptures say things
that they weren't meant to say. The Bible is not a book of
science. The Bible is a book of redemption.
Dr. Billy Graham; The Quotable Billy Graham
A true scientist is known by his confession of ignorance.
