Salesmanship
In the years to come, the jobs, the income, the happiness, the
fate of all Americans, will rest largely in the hands of the
salesmen of America. Will the future bring us depression or
prosperity? They will decide. Will we have inflation, deflation,
or a sound economy? They will decide. Salesmen as a group,
supported by engineers, production men, transportation men, and
by the fire power of advertising will have more effect upon the
permanence and peace than all the diplomats - more effect on
wages and real prices than all the negotiators.
David F. Austin; Industrial Marketing
When you show a man what he wants, he'll move heaven and earth
to get it. This universal law is of such paramount importance
that it takes precedence over all other laws of human relations.
It always has been, and always will be, the most important. Yes,
it looks up as Rule Number One over all other rules in
civilization.
Frank Bettger; How I Raised Myself from Failure to Success in
Selling; Prentice-Hall, Inc.
Esmond Ewing said in a talk in Detroit, ``The public is a
parade, continually passing by. We succeed in convincing a
substantial percentage of that parade that is directly in front
of us today. But by tomorrow, some of those who have heard our
message have moved along, and some of those who have not heard
have moved into the range of our voices.''
